House Guest, 20, Tracked Down After Stealing Son's Jeep In Darien, Police Say

A houseguest staying at his friend’s father’s home allegedly stole a Jeep in Darien, which was recovered in Massachusetts, police said.

Investigators from the Darien Police Department were dispatched to a Sunswyck Road on Wednesday, Jan. 9, where there was a report of a stolen motor vehicle.

According to police, the homeowner said that a friend of his son, Piscataway, New Jersey resident George Peele, 20, had stayed at the home the night before. Peele left the house earlier that morning after being picked up by a friend.

Police said that at approximately 4 p.m. Jan. 9, the homeowner looked out of his window and found his 2017 Jeep Cherokee being backed out of the driveway. T

he vehicle had been locked and the keys were stored in his son’s room. The homeowner checked where the keys were stored and found they were missing, and the Jeep was reported to police as stolen.

Later that night, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Williamstown, Massachusetts Police Department contacted investigators in Darien to report that they had found the Jeep and taken Peele into custody. Peele was arrested in Massachusetts and charged by Williamstown on grand larceny charges. No return court date has been announced.
